Sales round 2

Now that the second BD volume has been out for about a week - how well did it sell? If you recall, in the first week volume 1 sold just over 4,000 and in the second week went on to break 5,000. It was a good sign that the series was a fairly strong seller as far as anime goes (we're not comparing it to Madoka or anything), it certainly wasn't a failure. Well I'm happy to report that the sales for volume 2 have remained consistent.

Blu Ray volume 2: Review + Scans/Rips

I'm happy to say that my copy of the 2nd BD arrived on Saturday. It's pretty much exactly like the first one, it includes a bonus CD (with the soundtrack) and a small booklet with character designs and keywords. The set also came with a small ad that confirms the release date of the manga will be May 10th - not too far away!

Volume 2 BD/TV Comparisons

The second Blu Ray volume was recently released in Japan. My copy is unfortunately still on it's way, but when it arrives I'll be sure to put up scans a rip of the OST. For now, here's some comparison shots between the broadcast and BD versions of episodes 3 & 4.

BD/DVD Release Information

Today the official site updated with information about future BD/DVD releases. The important news is the 4th volume will come with a character CD for Miku. Yes you read that right, Miku, as in Hibiki's best friend and lesbian lover. This isn't surprising because Miku's voice actor will be making an appearance at the concert and she's going to need something to sing, right? Also the 6th volume will come with the character CD for "First Love Song," which is the song sung by Hibiki/Tsubasa/Chris in the final episode. Anyway, I'm detailing all the current information in this post. Picture is the cover for the 2nd volume, btw.

BD vol 1 Limited Edition: Scans and Rips

I bought vol 1 of the BD since I wanted to snag the limited edition that comes with Kanade's CD before it sold out. I actually had pre-ordered it at CD Japan and it arrived a few days after the Japanese release date, but I've only now had time to scan the booklet and rip the CD. Sales

Symphogear BD/DVD volume 1 went on sale 3/28/12 in Japan. Yesterday, sales numbers were posted. Did Symphogear make a profit or did it bomb like most animu? The answer is neither: It did alright. Not bad, not great, but just about average. The surprise is that no one expected this.
