Symphogear Manga: Chapter 9!

I got side-tracked with the contest and other stuff so it took a little longer than usual to get this chapter finished, but boy is it an awesome one! This is a completely action-filled chapter with the most impressive 2-page spread in the whole volume.

The next chapter is the last of volume 2, so look forward to that and the complete volume release within the next few weeks. Unfortunately, the final volume of the manga (volume 3) hasn't been announced for sale yet...so we probably won't get to see the end of this adaptation before season 2 starts. Ah well.

      Hi, thanks for the question.

      "Balal" is a Hebrew word meaning "to confound," "to confuse," or "to mix." It also provided the basis for the English word "babel" which has a similar meaning. As you might know, "babel" also has a religious meaning relating to the story of a tower built by Noah's descendants who intended it to reach up to heaven, but God foiled them by confusing their language so they could no longer understand one another.

      When Fine talks about the "Curse of Balal" she is referring to that same story - the Tower of Babel. The curse was put upon humanity as punishment and Fine seeks to reunite the world under the one "true" language.
