Not dead, just busy

Hi anyone who still reads this, I know I haven't updated in forever and I'm sorry for that. I can't really keep on top of the news like I used to so it's difficult to maintain the content here. To that end - please please please email me if you see some news. Like raws for volume 3 of the manga showing up. Or Thomas Romain tweeting about the potential of season 3.

More Symphogoodness

First of all, thanks to the anons who stepped forward and put out sub scripts for use with raws. I know there was more than one of you and I'm sorry this couldn't have been a more coordinated effort. Also big thanks to the one timer who spent time going through and put in lyrics after I finished TL'ing those too. The final product is available here and a Commie consistent script (different terminology, no honorifics) is available here for those that want it.

English dialog translation for ep 13

I have no experience with making actual subs or timing them. Best I can do is translate the dialog and put it up on pastebin. Hopefully this relieves some of the stress for those of you waiting or unsure what was said in the raws.

Was going to translate keywords but...

This came in the mail yesterday.  I will get to the new keywords later this week, hopefully tonight actually. In the mean time here's a breakdown of the highlights from BD 1.

Pro-tip: If you wanna ask or suggest something, you're much better off leaving a comment than expecting me to find it on /a/. I'm not opposed to suggestions for improvement either in regards to translations or aesthetics ...and to that end, I hope the blog is easier on your eyes now.



Also to the guy who is scanning the 3rd volume of the manga: if you wanna hook me up with the raws when you're done I've got a script going that I can do the typesetting for. Or if you've already got volunteers from /a/ to work on it, then whatever floats your boat.

Keywords Redux part 2

Okay this is all for now. Well, new keywords should be up on the G site tomorrow anyway. I haven't translated everything but some keywords just cover what we already know (such as the general outline of F.I.S. plan from episode 1 onward). There's also a long keyword about the anime (Lightning Detective Van) from ep 4, but it's mostly fun and not absolutely necessary knowledge so I'll be skipping it for now!

An announcement regarding the future of the blog

Some of you already know this, but in 1 week I'm going to be moving to Japan and starting a new job. While it's exciting, the unfortunate reality is that I'm going to have to cut back on the time I dedicate to Symphogear.

Yep it's finally done. Well, except the translation notes since I didn't feel motivated enough to do them. If anybody has any questions they can feel free to ask, but I don't think there was much of importance to note aside from a few references.

Symphogear Manga Chapter 10

I finally got this finished, at least to a point that I was satisfied with. Sorry for the long wait, and this isn't even that exciting of a chapter (it ends on a cliffhanger!)

Between the fan created term "swan song" and the use of "ultimate song" in the FUNimation subs, it was never really clear what "zesshou" was intended to mean in English. But today we have an answer.

So many keywords, so little time

So new keywords are appearing on the Symphogear G site and unfortunately I don't have the time to translate the entirety of them (I'm still working on terms from season 1!), but I'll be reading through them and adding the important details on here when I can. Here's what I gleamed from the first set.

PV officially released

I know everyone has seen it already but I'm posting it anyway! Contrary to what I just said the other day the official PV was uploaded for our viewing pleasure. I've provided a translation of the dialog after the jump.

One week away!

We are officially one week away from the premiere of Symphogear G! Unfortunately there has been no official upload of the PV yet, so I was wrong when I guessed that it might appear earlier this week. Fortunately, there has been some new information including a preview of the ED theme!

The latest news

The special premiere of episode 1 happened earlier today, so there are some new details floating around. I personally have avoided spoilers and won't detail anything specific here, but there are some other updates to talk about.

Just over an hour ago the first Symphogear G PV premiered in Akihabara. New details have been revealed!

Symphogear in real life

Okay, so I'm assuming everyone is familiar with the idea that anime locations are often designed based on real life locations in Japan. Some fans go out and explore these areas to take pictures and compare them to the anime as part of an "anime pilgrimage" of sorts. This happened with Symphogear recently.

Small updates

No major news yet, but the first PV has been announced to air soon and the OP/ED themes now have titles. The sneak premiere of episode 1 is actually less than a week away, so there should be plenty of spoilers and new information coming out before the show actually starts on July 4th. Stay tuned and I'll try to update as I can!

New character CDs announced

New information on the character CDs was released today, there will be 8 in total (10 if you include the OP and ED theme singles). 

New character introductions

The official website for Symphogear G updated today with character profiles for all of the newly announced characters, including the proper spelling of their names. I've also included some comments from actors.

I've found some text pasted from the magazine article that I was able to translate. This new information will provide a better context to Maria's team and their role in the story.

Now it's time to really get excited, the new characters have been revealed from magazine scans. A bunch of news will be rolling in now, I'm trying to stay on top of it but I'll have to update this post as I go so be sure to check back. Another pic after the jump.

Translation Corner #29 + 30

I've got some interesting keywords for you today. They cover Fine's dealings with the Americans and the backstory of Chris and her parent's deaths. Most of these details were revealed or inferred to in the series itself, but having things explained a little further never hurts.

Right, I should get back to doing these. I definitely need to finish them before season 2 so that everyone is up to speed. I've been getting better at translating lately, so hopefully it shouldn't take me too long to get them done. Here is today's batch.

Winter Outfit designs + a new enemy?

New info coming in from this month's anime magazines. In the image you can see the designs for the girls' winter outfits (unfortunately Chris is cut off at the bottom). A few people asked me who is on the far right, that's Aoi Tomostato who worked on the command bridge in season 1.

Hey everybody, lots of news today! The official website for Symphogear G got an update with a bunch of details including some info on character CDs, the story, and a special pre-screening of episode 1!

Latest news on Symphogear G

There were new images of the season 2 designs released in this month's Newtype magazine in Japan, you can see the picture on the left. These images give us a better sense of the design changes from season 1, which really aren't that drastic. If you ask me I think Chris has changed the most, both in regular design (with ribbons!) and her gear design. Anyway, more stuff after the jump.

Symphogear Manga: Chapter 9!

I got side-tracked with the contest and other stuff so it took a little longer than usual to get this chapter finished, but boy is it an awesome one! This is a completely action-filled chapter with the most impressive 2-page spread in the whole volume.
